My partner and I are thinking of getting a Great Dane puppy. Your website has been very helpful especially on the health issues page. Obviously the pictures a great but I especially like the way you explain things for the layman/women. As part of our research we thought it would be good to meet a few Danes and talk to a couple of breeders to make sure we know fully what we are commiting to. We both love dogs but we want to make sure we get a dog that suits us and that he/she gets an environment where they will be happy and healthy. A giant breed scares my partner a bit so could you recommend where we could go to meet a "few gentle giants" and maybe find some info on what it costs to feed/vet etc.. a dog like a Dane? Thanks.

Thank you so much for our lad Barry, we've never known a Dane with such personality! He's almost 6 months now and he's so well behaved with our little girl and has such a fantastic nature. The time, care and love you have really shines when you see just how amazing all your babies are.
Thank you!

It\'s been a week to the day that Skylar was inducted into our family, she has settled in very well and is the most docile puppy my partner and I have ever seen. Sue has a wonderful property where the dogs are bred and reared, with some breathtaking breeding Danes out the back.the handover and ongoing support is fantastic and we will surely recommend this breeder too anyone interested in a dane.

Hi Sue, we got home a couple of hours ago. I stopped every two hours to give her a toilet break. She bonded with me very quickly and showed no sense of lost. When she met Magpie and Woods, she was a bit scared. They were very gentle, so hopefully she will be ok with them soon.

Thanks for the professional way your handed her over – I have never had such a hand over before.

She likes the Advance tinned food – where do you get them from?

\'Reuben\' came into our lives nearly 2 weeks ago now and brought with him an abundance of mischief and curiosity, and a little personality brimming with cuteness.
We have already recommended Crytalquin Danes to a friend, as we believe the excellence proffessionism and friendlyness that we have experienced with them, both whilst buying and with any after support, is second to none. The quality of their dogs is another reason we would look no-where else, should we with to buy another little \'Reuben\' sometime in the future.

Just a quick update on Lexis :)
She slept on my bed with me last night and snuggled right in, must have been very content as she had several snoring sessions!!!
Today she has spent the day playing with my parents dogs, sleeping, playing some more, sleeping, playing some more and she is now currently asleep on the pillow bed :)
Lexi is yet too have an accident inside, and she is getting the hang of going to the back door when she needs out!! Today we started working on "sit", she took to this so well, that I\'ve added a few "drops" in as well. Lexis is one very smart lil girl and I\'m looking forward to seeing how her personality continues to grow!!! Thank you Sue and Robin for such an amazing lil girl :)

Hi Sue,

What a beautiful boy "Roy" we bought off you nearly 4 months ago now. He is living the\' Dane inside on the couch dream\'! & living it well.... \"Winking

We were recently down the coast
(Rye) and spent a few hours in Sorrento one morning, where i came across a beautiful black girl called Bollinger. Upon giving her a cuddle and
chatting with the owners, we established that we have both bought or beautiful dogs from you.....from
memory i think they said her father was called Diesel.?

Anyway, life is good with Roy, he is a
spoilt rotten Dane. He truly is officially my third child.........

As the owner of Bollinger and i said, you breed beautiful temperaments in your Danes and we are very grateful.

(Don\'t ever retire, i\'ll be coming back one day for another one)

Levi is still on my mind, hope she is well and if she has fallen pregnant it\'s all a breeze for her. Most gorgeous blue girl ever! X

Thanks for everything.

Cheers
Karen

(ill post a couple of photo\'s of Roy for
 you too)

Dearest Friends,
I m so looking forward to purchasing another dane from you. My last dane was born in Whittlesea under your watchful care almost 15yrs ago now.. oh how the years fly by.
Ive been immersed in the dog world and have come to know the industry quite well, rarely is there a breeder who is so full of heart and integrity.
My boy, Utah, died at 10yrs of age due to bloat. He was still going strong. A bundle of shiny muscles and white flashy teeth. I was so proud of him. He never experienced any health problems at all and i have to say that i know that i have his exceptional breeding to thank for it.
Thankyou.
Sincerely thankyou. Im looking forward to starting again with a new puppy from you and it may be a venture into the show ring this time, lets wait and see.
XxX love to you all.
See you soon.
Dearest love from Arrow.

Hi guys,
an update on our 16 month old girl, Zilla. She\'s doing really well,  she\'s an absolute charmer. Everywhere we go we get comments on how gorgeous she is & what beautiful markings she has. We\'re thinking about doing some more doggy school lesons as she\'s getting a bit cheeky as a teenager and just loves the social side of the classes.
I hope you are going well, thanks again for such a great dog! Now if only I could convince J to get another Dane from you guys... :)

Hi Sue, Just letting you know our little man Charlie is doing great. The vet says he is growing  very well, putting 5kg on in two weeks. He is a very social little man and love’s going out for breakfast on the weekends. We take him out when ever we can and have found this to be very beneficial for him. He is of course very naughty, chewing what ever he can get his hands on but we still love him very much. His toilet training is going very well too, with very little slip ups.  He loves going for his little walk too up and down the street which seem to tire him out which is always nice.  He loves sleeping on his bed and now knows the command for bed though every now and then he snuggles up in my wardrobe in the mix of my bags and shoes. Thank you for such a lovely little puppy. Chantal

Hi Sue!
Just thought we\'d give you an update. Amadeus is growing so quickly, he is much bigger than our boxer boy and now the boxer goes right underneath him. He has become such an important part of our family and draws attention everywhere he goes. I\'ve been off work for 7 weeks (school holidays) and he\'s had our undivided attention, but we head back to school this week so he\'ll have to get used to hanging out with his big brother Ziggy and doing the dog thing outside.

We are hoping to start obedience next week. With all the rain we\'ve had (and thankfully we were spared the flooding in our new house), it has been a long time coming.  Hope all is well for you guys and all your four-leggeds!

Cheers
Judy, Jordyn, Alex and Amadeus!

Hi Sue
Just a quick note to let you know of Keller’s progress.  Most people see their dogs through rose colored glasses and believe theirs is the best to which we are no different, but really believe her to be the best a true gem. She has just completed puppy school and passed with flying colors, she will sit and drop and stay through hand signals now and her deafness is proving no barrier to us or to her at all. She has just returned from holidays on the Murray with us and had a great time meeting some new friends in the park and socialising in the streets of Echuca whilst we ate ( see photo attached.) Like all puppies she loves to chew run play and sleep, she has no vices and loves the water ( she played in it for hours when the back yard flooded) and just loves life. She is growing every day and every one that meets her, from our friends to the vet to people on the street just fall in love with her ( she still goes to work with Wendy at the old peoples home and enjoys the attention there also). As you know we studied hard before we took on the responsibility of a deaf puppy but can now say through experience that I would have no worries doing it all again and would say to any one else contemplating adopting a deaf puppy to do it without hesitation. (you just need to spend time with them) as its been one of the most rewarding things we have completed as a family.

She is a credit to you as breeder and I can not say enough how much we love and what a huge part of the family she has become.

Hope you like the pictures

Thanks

The Nicols

A quick note about Maximus,
well it has come to our attention that our little deaf boy can hear very loud noises such as a door banging and yelling at him when he is asleep.  As he is deaf I dont say that he has selective hearing but rather selective seeing, he has learnt the signs for  sit, stay, no, and go... the go is to get him out of the kitchen... when he doesnt want to respond he looks away and then "peeps" sideways at me like a naughty child... hehehe.. Christmas day was a horrible day but turned out ok in the long run. Maximus greeted me home from work with one foot pointed out sideways but not in pain...turns out he is growing so fast that his ligaments are very loose and the joint cant accomodate them yet.. He is now on a minimal exercise regime until he grows into his ligaments ..  loving my little boy.. thankyou again

Hi Sue

Keller here just letting you know how the first 12 days have gone at my new home.

Thursday night left you at your house and had Kylie the daughter wrapped around my paw by the gate. She started with, she will be cold she will lonely and then she finally said it “ Keller needs to sleep with me for a few nights before she goes to her own bed ( now I might be deaf but I knew what she said). We headed over to the spill way for a look but I really couldn’t be bothered so I slept. We got home so I needed to have a look around, seemed ok and I had my first look at the other 2 canines at this place ( pussies and I will be boss). Friday morning and off to Tullamarine to meet the son Mat coming home from Schoolies. Didn’t take me to long to wrap him round the paws also. Friday afternoon I slept and played with everyone that came to visit then Friday night off to the nursing home where Wendy works for the night, slept in the office did the rounds and served breakfast, all the oldies loved me but then again who wouldn’t? Sunday night out to another BBQ where again everyone loved me. Monday did some gardening re potting 3 plants I think they looked better out of the pots but no one agreed and they had to go back in the pots. Wednesday my tummy got a little red so I was taken down to the doctors and she gave me some antibiotics to be on the safe side Saturday I went to the river to go skiing but everyone decided a little cold so we sat on the bank and played with 2 other pups down there also. Saturday night went back to the nursing home. Sunday was the best as I helped put up the Christmas tree. They just didn’t get it. It was going up my way or it was coming down. Twice actually once onto Kylie which made everyone laugh. I now can sit most times when the hand signal is given then I get a treat. I lip read and they all say how smart I am to be getting this so early ( they don’t know just how smart I am yet!!) Sunday I spent a lot of time in the big back yard with the other 2 canines while they all worked cutting lawns and weeding. Went out and looked at the Christmas lights Sunday night. I make much better growls than any of the displays. Today I had my stiches out and the doc reckons my tummy is great and well healed.

Only a couple of accidents inside so far so a pretty good start.

Well that’s about it. Have a look at some of my photos and will talk soon.

Hi, we have owned four great danes over the past 27 years and Xena who we purchased from you was the biggest, stongest, healthiest and the most lovable big sook of all.  She passed away in 2006 after 9 incredible loving years and we still miss her dearly. When it comes time to get another Dane, as there is no other dog for us, we will certainly be getting one from Wittstone, as we trust your breeding practices and would dearly welcome another Wittstone dane into our family.

Hi Sue & Robin
Thank you for such a beautiful breed, it is a real credit to you both. We dont really know that we have a puppy because she is so well behaved. She has not done the chewing thing and we have done what you recommended when we think she may be looking for something to chew we give her something that she can have. Once again thank you and we look forward to getting her a partner in the future.

Hi Sue,
I am so excited and cant wait to get my little deaf boy home.... I have done a lot of continued research into raising a deaf puppy and some of the videos on the subject are fantastic... I am now learning basic Auslan and re educating my 6 year old Rottwieler... with the new hand signs... she is a quick learner and I am sure she will be a great mentor for my new dane that I have all ready named Maximus... Although he will never hear his name spoken  I am absolutely certain he will live up to his name. I have seen my local vet and  I have his support and every one I talk to in the small community that I live in are very possitive with the impending arrival of my beatiful little deaf boy... Looking forward to the next round of photos so I can keep the community informed of his progress... I work in a nursing home and they are all very excited at the prospect of big little Maximus visiting on a regular basis.....

Hi Sue,
I have spoken with you a number of times when I was in the search for my dane... I check your site on a regular basis to see when you have pups coming and your rescue dogs as I will get another dane for my boy to play with eventually. I think its great that you are looking for a home for your white girl and not doing the unspeakable that so may others would do............ Just because a puppy cant hear, or dosent have the right markings doesnt mean it has a right to live.... These puppies still make great pets and many people (like me) are only after a loving pet. We do not put down people because they are not perfect so  I dont see why we should do it to our fur members of our family. I just wanted to say a BIG thankyou for and its great to see that you are looking for a home for this beautiful little girl.

Hey Sue & Robin.

Just wanted to post a message on your site to let people know how super happy i am with our new dane "Gibson". It is an absolute credit to your breading and early stages of upbringing to have a dog so happy and people freindly from day one he truely has an amzing temperment not to mention is incredibly smart already and i am still amazed how well behaived he is. it has only taken him a couple of days to settle into his new environment and being hard the first few days has learnt the rules .. but yes .. he still sleeps inside .. "in the laundry! :)" he is growing lovely and is going to make a perfect dane. I would without out doubt reccomend your danes to anyone looking for a dog and after the neighbourhood hasn\'t stopped visiting my house since he arrived you may have some keen people very shortly!!

Thanks again guys, So happy !
Shannon and Bridge

Also not forgetting your great support thus far with puppy,

I\'ll collect some phots and post them soon.

What a fantastic site!!!! So easy to find your way around and such magnificent pictures. Big pat on the back for you guys...I am looking at getting a second great dane as my beloved boy is nearly 6 and would love a pup to follow his well trained lead. Plus I would like a pup to grow up with my 11month old daughter. Do you only have the two puppies shown in the pictures left? Or do you have any rescue Danes available or comming up? I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Sue,
Don\'t worry about what others think....I am a firm believer of do what is right with you. My best friend, who got me into Danes, took a deaf boy to save him from being drowned (yes....barbaric!!) and raised him. He was
awesome. She would wave her arms to get his attention then speak to him in sign language - he was just brilliant. You can hold your head high....youare giving babies a chance of life. If only we could euthanaze people who were wasting space!!!!

Amadeus is growing like a weed and is the love of our lives. I can\'t thank you enough for allowing us to have this little boy. If anyone else has a puppy from Iluka and Harvey\'s litter (28/10/10) and they\'d like to get in contact to swap stories/pics etc. please get them to email me - I would truly love to see his family growing up too!!!

Thanks - and hang in there....

Judy, Jordyn, Alex and of course...Amadeus

Hey Sue,

Well our baby is now 3.5 months old and just wonderful. He had a visit to the vet for his last vaccination and the vet just loved him too. He is a great family member. He loves to play with our little maltese and our new 11 week old kitten. What a funny boy he is becoming. Thank you again, I will upload some photos when I get them from the phone. Axle sends his love to you.

Hi Sue,
Amadeus has been with us for almost a week now and everyone has had at least one day off to be home with him (it\'s a great excuse). He is into mischief, tries desperately to get the cat to play and loves to play. He is a snuggler and a really adorable boy. Our vet is very happy with him and tells me he is in fine shape - perfect to be honest! We love him and thank you so much for letting him come into our lives.

Will send you the occasional photo and hope all is well with you and the next litter. I also hope all Amadeus\' brothers and sisters found great homes and are bringing lots of love and licks into others lives!

Thanks!
Judy, Jordyn Alex and of course Amadeus!

Hi guys,
Solomon is settling in nicely, loves to be by our side. He loves cuddles (when its not play time).. He wonders why the cat wont play with him but im sure they\'ll figure it out amongst themselves. Getting bigger everyday and soon we will need to change his collar: ) Hes getting on great with the extended familys dogs and is soo very brave. Starting to walk on the leash but not very far before its play timne again. He helps out with the gardening by picking daisys but doesnt yet know the difference between weeds and flowers..I will attatch some photos.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for emailing the pics of our little boy - we are looking forward to  him coming to share his love and licks in just a few weeks time. We wish we could get down there to meet him but I trust that he\'ll be just as perfect in real life as he is in his photos. We battled amongst ourselves for naming rights - Amadeus has won - much to my daughters annoyance - but she will get used to it :) Everyone else thought it suited him. Look forward to more photos if you get time or opportunity.

Hi all,
We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you so very much for Lexy our little (soon to be very big) black Grate Dane girl.  She is a gem and we are so grateful. Your communication and attention to detail goes without saying and your love for animals is admired by many. We look forward to picking up Hercules (Harlequin male) in 4 weeks and introducing him into our family. Thank you once again for being the best breeders! You will be truly recommended. Love from Alex and Nancy xoxo

Hi, Zilla is 8 months now & such a fantastic dog! She just loves everybody & everything. She is, of course, the biggest dog in her training class, but has lots of littler friends, even the cat! Her temperament is unbeatable & she has a gorgeous soft, smooth coat. Thanks again for such a perfect dog, she\'s a credit to your breeding!

Hi Sue and Robin and family
Thank you for letting us view the puppies yesterday, both Wayne and I were particulary taken with the personal care that is given to each and every dog and puppy. The coats on your dogs are a real credit to you all and we hope that we can follow suit with our new baby. Look forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks to pick her up. As a proud owner of a Challengedane/ wittstone which happens to be our 5th dane I can verify that like people danes come in all shapes and sizes. Currently we have 2 dane bitches both weighing 51 kgs but one girl is 1.5 inches taller than the other! The one thing always guaranteed is if they are breed by Challengedane/wittstone they will have the best personalities you could possibly wish for in a dog. We will always have a Challengedane/wittstone in our family. We are already in love with Great Danes. We currently have a LARGE personality living with us by the name of Waldo the black dane. He shares the house/home with us and is counted a one of the kids.
We just wanted to introduce ourselves as future prospects when we are ready to add another 4 legged baby to join our clan.

Hi Sue,
Thank you for my gorgeous little man Boston (Bigbottom the 1st). He is absolutely lovely and growing from a cute little kitten into a beatiful young cat. If only I could train him not to use the blinds as a ladder - I would have no complaints! :)
He is certainly well loved and adored.
Many thanks again,

Sue and Robin

Thank you for our wonderful Bolly. She is giving our family such great joy. She has a fabulous personality and has fitted in wonderfully well with our old girl. Only two complaints, she snores louder than my husband and her tail constantly wags. I am worried when she gets a bit bigger what damage she will do with that tail! Our world is so much better with her in it.

Thanks again

Hi.. Thank you for a wonderful site and beautiful photos of your Danes.. My Rottwieller of nearly 12 years is we think going to have his last summer.. He has been a fantastic animal and family member and we will miss him greatly. Unfortunatly we have another dog who is going to pine for him and miss him Terribly. My Husband and i have always wanted a Great Dane but when we met each other we already had a dog each of our own. We would be interested in knowing if you only breed Harliquins or if you breed other colous aswell.

On 09/09/09 I wondered what special event would happen on this significant date.  Then I found the dog of my dreams.  I spoke with Sue, and didn't hesitate to leave a deposit for a pup.   I've been on the web site and looked through some photo albums.  I particularly like the photo of the Danes laying in the sandpit where the toddlers have covered them in sand.  It's a great example of the gentle and placid nature of this giant breed .  There are a couple of other great photos from happy owners and their new dogs also.  The property looks fantastic - well set up and maintained and Sue's dogs are magnificent.   The speed at which Sue replies to an email for a puppy update or photo is phenomenal.  I am really looking forward to collecting my pup, meeting Sue and seeing her dogs for which an invitation has already been extended.  Thanks for everything so far - Karen

Hi Sue. I spoke to you about feeding 'Jimmy' the male harlequin we rehomed. I was wondering where do you get the liquid offal from? Been to the petshops and they do not sell it. I will send you a photo of him soon. When he stands i did notice that his legs go out to the sides a little.  If you could view the photo of him and tell me what you think that would be good.  We put him on the Cobber and he loves it with a bit of vegemite mixed in! Hope vegemite is fine to give him.  Do you know Syd Magregor? They use to breed the fawns, and we owned one.  We bought 'Jimmy' for $150.00  as the owners were moving. He is 9 months old. Thanks for your help and advice. We bought him some pet mince too. Lovely creature, what a freak of nature he is. Go the Danes yeh

Hi, great site!!! You have very beautiful Great Danes and your willingness to take in and rehome any great danes shows your love for the breed.

I have been wanting to own a great dane for many years now and plan to when I buy my first house (which will be nice and roomy perfect for my future dane) in a couple of years. I actually came across your site when I was researching breeders as I do every so couple of months and believe your site is one of the most prettiest and well organised.

Good luck with your shows and litters in the future - Amanda

The kittens are so gorgeous and have the best nature....they are cuddly. Its like having two extra people in the house, so much personality!
I highly recommend these ragdolls to everyone.

Hi,

Just wanted to say what a great site.  As a reasonably new parent of a 6 month old GD girl who had already had 3 homes before ours, I am glad to see that you carefully screen prospective families.  Yes the puppies are cute as everyone seems to say in your guestbook, but I have found this is a breed that needs lots of knowledge, information, TLC and a "big shovel".  They need to be part of the family and should have a few of the finer comforts in life.  Obviously my baby's previous owners were not prepared for this.

So please keep up the good work ensuring that these beautiful, loyal and loving dogs are shown the respect they deserve.

Cheers,  Kylie

Hi Sue,
Great to chat to you tonight ;-)
I love your website and love what you do for the breed. Please let me know when you have any Blue or Black Dane pups available after July 2008 (this year). I would like to purchase one off you.
Good luck with the breeding and cannot wait to hear from you!
Take care Sue K ;-)

I met one of your pups at puppy school where i'm a dog trainer and fell in love. I have a young family and will need a very laid back dog, which this pup seemed to be. I hope you continue breeding so in the next few years i can take one home, pref older dog/pup. Good on you, your responsibility to the breed should be comended and i will recommend you to future clients.  Katarina.

after losing our beloved hkini star from dreaded bloat, we too felt the heartache of losing part of the family, our child who grew up with her human brother and 3 sisters,we knew hkini was special but what we didnt know that we would only have her for only 5 short years.we taught her simple words such as mum, loll lolls and unbelievably i dont know quite audably enough to understand, she knew when we were unwell ,she was hkini starlight starbright and diffently our shining light each day we shall miss her every minute.we are also waiting to hear about a special babe from the wonderful wittstone family. see you all soon ..luv kerry.
